Sunrisers Hyderabad deafeated the Delhi Capitals at Feroz Shah Kotla yesterday by chasing an easy score of 130. Delhi’s batting has been very inconsistent throughout this IPL and they have not been able to capitalise on the crunch moments of the game. 20–30 runs more on the scoreboard by the DC could have changed the result. Shikhar Dhawan has not been in the best of form lately and will look to contribute more to the team.

The match started with Bhuveneshwar Kumar getting the wicket of Prithvi Shaw by hitting the top of his off stump. Mohammad Nabi bowled brilliantly yet again and ended with figures of 4–0–21–2. Shreyas Iyer was the only Delhi batsman who was looking good but unforunately got bowled to a Rashid Khan beauty. Rishabh Pant, Rahul Tewatia, Colin Ingram, all managed to score just 5 runs. At one point even a score of 110 was looking difficult but Chris Morris and Axar Patel combined to finish the innings off well and took Delhi to a score of 129–8.

Sometimes these low scores can be tricky to chase as we saw in the final of IPL 2017. RPS while chasing similar score of 130 took it a bit too easy and in the process lost control of the game. But Jonny Bairstow had other ideas, he smashed 48 runs off 28 deliveries which included 9 fours and 1 six. This innings helped the other SRH batsmen to proceed slowly towards the target and small contributions from Shankar, Pandey, Pathan and Nabi helped SRH register an easy win.

The man of match went to Jonny Bairstow and after the match he said,”There was a little less bounce than what we had in Hyderabad and you could see that with the wear and tear of the pitch. It was a good toss to win because you could see it was good to bat second because you saw what you needed to do.” He has now scored 246 runs at an average of 61.50 including a century against RCB. He has at the second spot on the Orange Cap list just behind his opening partner, David Warner who has scored 264 runs at an average of 88.

Now SRH are looking pretty solid even though they are playing without Williamson as he seems to carry a bit of a niggle. With him at 3 and Shankar at 4 they will surely look a better side. Mohammad Nabi didn’t get to play much last season but he has been brilliant in the two matches which he has played this season. First against RCB and now against the Delhi Capitals. From here they now fky back to Hyderabad to face the Mumbai Indians on Saturday. They will look to continue their momentum and stay on top of the table with a win.

There’s a lot to think about for the Delhi Capitals and their coach Ricky Ponting. Their batting has been very inconsistent which is a major concern. They could consider getting Colin Munro in their side as he is ranked as the №2 batsman in the ICC T20 rankings. Colin Munro actually hasn’t had much success in the IPL and will be looking forwad to improve his record. The team balance is also hurting them as most of the all-rounders they have are bowling all-rounders which makes the crucial №6 position a problem and also the middle order batting becomes fragile. Next they face the team on the bottom of the table, RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

In the next game of the tournament, KKR will face RCB at the Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru. RCB will be looking to turn the tide in this match by getting their first win of the tournament but in order to do so they will have to be vary of the Russell threat. Would be a thrilling encounter!
