When the localization for the game リズム天国 ザ・ベスト+ was announced on March 3rd as Rhythm Heaven Megamix, it was one of the most hyped games Nintendo have ever announced. With a huge community surrounding the rest of the Rhythm Heaven series, it was bound to become popular, and players now have more reasons to dust off their 3DS other than “it still exists”.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix was announced during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on March 3rd, 2016.

For those who don’t know, Rhythm Heaven games are collections of tiny rhythm games with surreal yet realistic themes. Imagine two people with boxes for heads playing ping-pong. Now imagine that being done in rhythm with music. Rhythm Heaven has that. Imagine a chicken driving a car that can only move in short bursts across a crumbling road. Rhythm Heaven has that. Imagine a ninja slicing ghosts with a katana. Okay, maybe not that realistic, but still, Rhythm Heaven has that. There have been 4 Rhythm Heaven games so far:

  • The Japan-only Rhythm Tengoku
  • Rhythm Heaven (named Rhythm Tengoku Gold in Japan to prevent confusion)
  • Rhythm Heaven Fever
  • Rhythm Heaven Megamix

And now that the most recent game is being localized, we have even more of the games. It, named Rhythm Heaven Megamix, is a compilation of previous rhythm games from the series, including ones from Rhythm Tengoku, which, as I said, was Japan-only. This is the second closest thing to a localization of Tengoku, after the Rhythm Heaven Silver romhack.

Anyway, enough explanation, let’s get to the good stuff. Today, on June 15th, Rhythm Heaven Megamix will appear at Nintendo’s annual E3 livestream, Nintendo Treehouse Live at E3. This means that you will get to see live gameplay of the localized version for the very first time!
