The parents of an autistic woman have been charged with her murder, after their daughter’s lifeless body was discovered fused to a filthy sofa in their home.

“She was emaciated and covered in maggots”

Police were called to the address in Louisiana, USA, in January 2022, by Lacey’s mother. When officers and the county coroner arrived, they found Lacey semi-naked and in an upright position in a crevice on a shabby brown leather sofa.

Her body was severely emaciated, with the 36-year-old weighing just 43 kg (96 pounds) at the time of her death. The stench of urine emanated throughout the property, with Lacey found covered in her own waste. Faeces appeared to have been smeared over her chest and face, and were even found in her ears.

Lacey had been denied access to a toilet during her imprisonment in her parents’ home and had been forced to simply urinate and defecate where she sat, her flesh eventually bonding to the cushion on which she sat.

Throwing doubt upon her parents’ claim that her death had only just occurred…
