He executed his folks at a pizza shop 🍕
On the morning of March 30, 2009, an employee of Pizza Plus in Claypool Hill, VA, showed up to work only to find two dead bodies there. Delivery driver Harvey Looney’s body lay outside the restaurant’s back door. His throat had been slashed. His wife, Valerie, a shift leader, was found in the restaurant’s office. Her throat had been slit as well, in addition to her head being bashed in. Her head was nearly decapitated. Both Harvey (known as Dean), 52, and Valerie, 48, had been strangled before being slain.
Officers noted that the restaurant’s alarm system had not been armed; the cash register had been completely emptied; and the bloody fire extinguisher, which had been used to bludgeon Valerie, was put back in its holder. A mop had been used to clean up after the murders. Authorities believed that the perpetrator was someone who was quite familiar with the restaurant — perhaps a frequent customer, or a former or current employee.
DNA evidence was collected from the fire extinguisher, however, the results were inconclusive. More than 200 interviews were conducted, including with all of the company’s employees. Twenty polygraph tests were administered, and 125 pieces of physical evidence were examined by the Virginia State Police Crime Lab and FBI crime labs in connection with this crime.
