Described by a police investigator as a very, very ordinary man, William Patrick Fyfe is one of Canada’s worst serial killers. He was born in Toronto in 1955, and by the time he was 24 he had committed his first murder, while on a day pass from jail for a minor crime.

“He was a vicious murderer,” stated Montreal Urban Community police Commander André Bouchard.

The Killer Handyman Who Hid Himself Well

William was described by police as a stubborn and icily manipulative man who made a living working in odd jobs. He was able to hide his crimes well with family and friends. None of them suspected that he may have left a trail of dead women 25 long behind him.

Friends said that William was a generous man, and full of community spirit, but maybe a little blunt when talking to people. A single fingerprint and some DNA left at a murder scene led police right to William Patrick Fyfe. During interrogation, the investigators confronted William with the fingerprint and DNA evidence. William confessed, but only to a portion of the crimes.

He was convicted of 5 counts of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.
