The story is written about the criminal but the focus should really be on victims.

Although I will go on to explain why, in my opinion, the history of this violent criminal reads like a serial-killer sex offender text book example, I wanted first to note that the victims are real and the suffering was real. This is a story about, but not glorification of, a person who committed truly horrible offences.

The crime that gets the press interested

Sometimes, a crime just gets the attention of the press. It is an ugly truth, but sometimes it is just a quiet news day or the victim is famous or the crime outstandingly violent, but some stories go big and some don’t. The murder of Rachel Nickell, in front of her little 2-year old boy, was one of those that gained huge traction.

It was the July 15th 1992 when 23-year old Rachel Nickell, who was out for a walk on Wimbledon Common in London (not far from where the tennis is played). Rachel was with her 2 year-old son, Alex and their dog. They lived nearby and walked there regularly.
