What is Crimebeat

Crimebeat is a place to share stories on true crime, whether historical or recent. If you are interested in any crime-related topics, we would like to read your article from Jack the Ripper to the robbery at the corner shop.

The publication has been established for several years, and this year we are making it the only place to go for quality true crime articles.

We would love to add your article to our publication if it is crime-related. In addition, we will advertise your articles on a variety of sources. However, we have some definitive criteria for publishing to keep our standards high.

Please ensure that you read the submission criteria carefully, as we will not be considering any article that does not follow these or accept any new writers who have not included them in their submission.

Submission Criteria / Publishing Checklist

First let us make it clear, we do not accept AI generated stories, writers who try to submit it will be removed from the publication.

  • Include a title and sub-title on the article — these need to be in the correct format.
  • Do not add trigger warnings to your articles.
  • Personal commentary should be kept to a minimum.
  • Posts must be 5–7 minutes of reading time.
  • Quotes must be kept to a minimum, and sources must be cited.
  • All posts must be in draft form and have been run through Grammarly to alleviate mistakes. Editors don’t mind a few corrections but more than 5 and the piece will be sent back.
  • The articles must include a picture. Sources must be cited in the pictures and state they are in the public domain. The image should sit just below the subtitle. Pictures should be copyright-free and not stock photos that show faces, as this is misleading.
  • Please link your research to your article via a hyperlink in the article or sources at the end. You must include at least six.
  • Please keep your CTA to a minimum; excessive or irrelevant CTA’s will be deleted.
  • Advertise articles only from our publication, not others.
  • We reserve the right to reject articles covered previously but will inform you if this is the case.
  • Violence and gore need to be kept to a minimum. There are ways to tell the story without glamorizing these things. Remember this is true crime, which means there are real people, families, that are still dealing with the fallout.
  • No AI. Any writer that submits an article generated by AI will be removed from the publication.

Working with Writers

The editors of this publication will work with all writers on their first submission to establish what is required to be a Crimebeat writer.

Although we are not unsympathetic to writers who wish to be published, please consider that all our editors have writing commitments of their own. Therefore, we can not offer feedback or editing for every article.

Writers who continually fail to follow our guidelines will be removed from the publication. You will find two articles below that may be useful when producing your articles.

Writing for CrimeBeat.
