Doreen Erbert happily handed out candy on Halloween 1984. While she was eight months pregnant, the little trick or treaters made her happy. Most of her night was filled with gleeful laughter and smiles from the young kids she gave candy.

Her husband, Charles Erber, took their young daughter out trick or treating. They decided it would be best for Doreen to stay home since the pregnancy had been difficult. Passing out candy and resting was the perfect way for her to celebrate the holiday she loved while protecting her unborn baby.

As the hours ticked by, the candy bowl ran low. Her husband called her from a payphone to let her know that they were on the way home and inquire if she wanted anything from the store. Doreen asked him to pick up more candy. He confirmed he would and told her he was going to stop at the liquor store as well.

The young mother waited for more trick and treaters and watched a scary movie. There was a knock on the door and a deeper than expected call of “trick or treat.” Doreen answered the door and was surprised by the werewolf standing in front of her.

He held a knife up and vowed, “I’m going to kill you.”
