It was December 1999 when Javed Iqbal Umayr sent a letter to Pakistani authorities detailing the circumstances of his crime. Iqbal confessed that he sexually abused 100 boys, mostly poor children, in the streets of Lahore, before brutally murdering them.

At first, the police did not take the letter seriously, but when the media caught wind of the crime and visited Iqbal’s residence, the police soon followed suit. They discovered walls and floors layered with blood stains and rooms filled with chains. There was evidence proving that Iqbal strangled his victims to death.

Photographs of the victims were also found were found in plastic bags, sometimes containing their belongings. All the plastic bags were neatly labeled, detailing who the victims were.

The police also found two vats of acid with dissolved human remains. There was a note on its container saying:

“The bodies in the house have deliberately not been disposed of so that authorities will find them. “

Why did Javed Iqbal do such unspeakable acts to all these street children?
