That was put on display to the nation’s horror as a twisted case out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, back in 2003, in which a 16-year-old working for an honest living was lured to his death by people he trusted.

Jason Keel Sweeney was born on July 29, 1986, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jason, lovingly raised in the blue-collar neighborhood of Fishtown, lived with his mother, Dawn, his father, Paul, and his younger sister, Melissa. While Dawn worked as a bank teller, Paul ran a small construction company.

Jason was the kind of kid who would intervene if he saw another kid getting bullied; his mother described him as a sweet, kind, and gentle soul. Although he eventually dropped out of school in the tenth grade, the easygoing Jason soon began working at his father’s business — which he enjoyed. Jason aspired to join the Navy once he turned 17 and become a Navy SEAL, and was accepted into his dream school…
