“I desperately want to see people die, it is a thrill for me to commit murder”

Seito Sakakibara — Boy A

When students from Tainohata Elementary School arrived for class on May 27, they were greeted by a horrific sight. In front of the school gates was the decapitated head of special education student, Jun Hase, 11. The young boy’s mutilated body lay on a hill close to the school.

A note, written in red pen, was found stuffed in his mouth, identifying the killer as “Sakakibara”. The note read:

“This is the beginning of the game… Try to stop me if you can you stupid police… I desperately want to see people die, it is a thrill for me to commit murder. A bloody judgment is needed for my years of great bitterness.”

The note

The killer was only 14 years old when he committed the crime. Since Japanese law forbids identifying juvenile offenders, his true name has not been disclosed to the media. He is officially known as “Boy A” in legal documents.

And this was not his first murder.

Who is Seito Sakakibara or “Boy A”?

His real name is Shinichiro Azuma and he was born on July 7, 1982, in Kobe, Hyōgo…
