Bishop allegedly drove the bodies 275 miles (443 km) in the station wagon to a densely wooded swamp about 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Columbia, North Carolina, where on March 2, he dug a shallow hole where he piled the bodies and set them ablaze with gasoline.

The alleged crimes committed by Bradford Bishop after being denied a promotion in 1976.

Brad Bishop seemingly had it all, a loving wife, three beautiful children, a dream house in an affluent suburb in Washington DC, and a successful career as an American Diplomat in the State Department.

He was living what many would call the American Dream. But this facade would soon come crashing down, in 1976 a concerned neighbor contacted law enforcement claiming that the Bishop family had been missing for over a week.

When authorities arrived at the eerily quiet house they were greeted by a gruesome scene, blood and brain matter splattered all over the floor and walls, five bodies were found buried and burnt in a dump site in North Carolina, the bodies were identified as Bishop’s wife, mother-in-law and his three sons.

The police had two dire questions as they scrambled to contain the scene, what happened to the Bishop family…
