Guardian newspaper on the Ukrainian- Russian war

In the Guardian newspaper on May 13, 2022, the issue of the Ukraine war that is still happening seems to be still the most important aspect of the newspaper as it’s placed in the front page.

The headline as we can see from the title as well talks about the invisible Ukrainian, named Igor Pedin, who walked 225km to safety from his hometown, Mariupol. The 61-year-old Ukrainian “hero” represents every citizen who is currently in the country and experiencing the cruelty of the war.

The writer’s name is Daniel Boffey and the title is concise and renders the central theme of the article. What’s more, it is dedicated to Pedin because the way the article is structured, written, and produced seems to bring even more glory to him. At first glance, the writer seems to express his objective view while he analyses the personal story of Igor rather than adjectives or public opinion.

However, there is a medium- heavy use of adjectives and adverbs which show compassion towards Pedin therefore the Ukrainian people.

To sum up, it is obvious that the Ukrainian war is a priority in every news and searches as it affects not only the country that is damaged but the entire Europe.
