A majority of software product owners release their products to customers without doing a usability testing. A shocking phenomenon considering when early adopters receive a product that frustrates them and is difficult to use, they end up not using the product. The first interaction with your product is the most important stage. You either capture a potential customer, or lose them.

“It takes about 50 milliseconds for users to form an opinion about your website. That opinion determines whether they like your site or not, and whether they’ll stay or leave.” ConversionXL. Having a friendly user experience is key.

Customers respond well to applications that are easy to use. This starts from the on-boarding process to the final stage of customers achieving their goal. The moment the process of using a product is difficult for the user, and they can’t find what they are looking for, they usually leave to explore other options. Seeking products that solve their problems without frustrating them.

Usability testing gives you an upper hand. It helps you ensure your user achieves their goal without issues. It also approximates the time it takes for the user to achieve their objective. In addition to offering ways to improve user satisfaction and performance. Based on the fact that you know where they struggle, or some of the features in the application they don’t use at all.

You can never do too much testing. The products team may think they have the best design and product but the user may not share the same sentiment. In essence, the product is designed for the user and not the designer. So to ensure they cover this base well, you need to do a usability test. By among many other things, having the target users use the product and give feedback.

Usability testing helps the team find issues before the end users do. It gives you feedback to improve the product to give customers optimal and quality products. This ensures the customer has a good user experience and is satisfied. Once your customer is satisfied, they are happy. Which is the essence of a business offering a great product or delivering excellent service.
