Mind Mapping Spring ‘19
I kept my mind map simple and easily adaptable to make room for new technologies or concepts that are brought into light in the coming weeks. As I began to think about my mind map I first started with the question — What concepts/problem spaces do I want to explore and potentially make something that could aid in solving that problem? I came up with three primary concepts in which I based my map around.
My three concepts/problem spaces are Story/Connection, Self-Development, and Spatial UX. From these three concepts I brainstormed technologies that I think are potential mediums for the solutions I create, as well, these are technologies I’d like to explore and know for myself. The technologies I currently intend to explore are VR, projections/projection mapping, app development, connected devices, animations, 3D printing, photography, videography and coding. Inside my three main problem spaces, I have more specific themes that I’d potentially explore in trying to create a solution for. As I noted earlier, the mind map is merely a starting point and is subject to change as I delve into other technologies that I’m not currently aware of.
Altogether, I have 15 weeks, 5 projects and a final project. I made sure to include my timeframe and basic schedule in my map because I know that I can easily get carried away with unrealistic ideas — gotta reel it in sometimes.
Some questions I have and intend to explore:
In this time and current culture, how do we make products that compliment our humanity while solving legitimate problems?
How do brands/companies design immersive experiences? Is it VR?
How does/will VR transcend the video game world?
How can the experience of viewing art/music change in a way that is complimentary rather than distracting?
How can connected devices offer genuine, human connection, simply?
How can connected devices offer simple solutions to everyday problems?
