Cronos announces Cronos Play and its first integration with ChainSafe Gaming SDK

Today, Cronos announced Cronos Play, a comprehensive modular suite of developer tools and services to streamline the creation of gaming and GameFi applications in the Cronos blockchain ecosystem.
Live since November 2021, Cronos is an EVM-compatible chain designed to support the Creator Economy with applications such as DeFi and GameFi, ultimately serving as foundational infrastructure for the Metaverse. Cronos delivers dramatically faster and cheaper transactions than Ethereum mainnet, making decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts greener and more user-friendly.
Since its launch in November 2021, Cronos has skyrocketed to being a top 10 blockchain by total value locked (More than $US 4billion), with 25% month-on-month user growth and more than 200 dApps.
Cronos Play is an essential pillar of Cronos’s strategy to bring tens of millions of end-users to Web3. The developer platform will consist of a wide range of integrations, developer products, and services supporting multiple game platforms and languages such as the Unity engine, the Unreal engine, and the C++ programming language.
As a first milestone, Cronos Play is announcing its integration with ChainSafe’s Gaming SDK, web3.unity, an open-source software development kit maintained by ChainSafe, a leading blockchain R&D firm specializing in infrastructure solutions for web3.
ChainSafe’s Gaming SDK, web3.unity, enables mobile, web, and desktop games created with the Unity engine to easily interact with common web3 smart contracts such as ERC20 and CRC20 token contracts, and ERC721 and ERC1155 NFT contracts. Game developers will be able to access on-chain data in-game, fetch user wallet addresses, connect to the Cronos chain, query cryptocurrency and NFT balances, send transactions, and transfer NFTs as part of the suite of out-of-the-box functionalities
To support the adoption of ChainSafe’s Gaming SDK by game creators, Cronos is releasing developer documentation, code samples, a demo application, and an NFT testnet faucet suitable for teams to develop and launch Unity games on the Cronos blockchain. The Cronos Play roadmap includes integration with a number of open-source libraries as well as connectivity to commercial services such as Crypto.com OAuth and Crypto.com Pay. With Crypto.com’s help and expertise, games will be able to easily receive credit card or crypto payments. Users will be able to sign blockchain transactions via the Crypto.com DeFi wallet, the MetaMask wallet, or other wallets compatible with Wallet Connect.
