In Q2 2022, we kicked off the Cronos Ecosystem Spotlight Series — a series of interview articles covering projects that are building on the Cronos Chain.
Today, we are excited to feature CroSkulls, one of the earliest gamified NFT projects on Cronos that has leveraged unique on-chain contracts to enhance the utility of its collection. Let’s dive right in!
1. Can you share more about CroSkulls and the team behind the project?
Absolutely! CroSkulls is a unique NFT collection that was launched on the Cronos chain in December 2021. The collection consists of 6,666 randomly generated NFTs, each with over 6 attributes of varying rarity. The project’s team has always had the vision to create an ecosystem where each NFT holds value beyond its artistic appeal. The team’s focus on innovation is evident in our staking system, which rewards holders with $GRVE, our utility and governance token.
Subsequently, the original collection was expanded to include EvoSkulls and seasonal Pets, which can be sent on missions to earn other rewards ($SLS), which are needed to level the stats of our NFTs.
Our brand, to date, has 13 collections available (and more to come in the future) each of which has a specific function within our ecosystem.
Our team is medium-sized, made up of enthusiast-passionate about all things web3, Crypto, NFT, and Metaverse! Consisting of professionals in Software Development, Graphics, Marketing, and Community Management.
2. Please tell us more about what are the interesting gamified experiences that a user can explore in your CroSkull ecosystem.
The CroSkull team is developing a multi-level game for the project, with Adventures, Seasons, and Missions being just the first phase of a rich and complex GameFi structure. As part of this effort, we recently launched the Bonesville Map, an animated map that allows users to explore the city and interact with various features of our dApp.
Going into detail about our Gamification system:
Adventures: This is our gamified staking system where each CroSkull can embark on a 100-day Adventure (called a Season) and earn 3 $GRVE per day.
Season: An innovative system for a decentralized game, divided into 10 initial Seasons, each lasting 100 days. During each season, CroSkull owners can use the $GRVE earned to purchase Eggs from our Merchant. Once hatched, the Eggs become Pets, and the Eggs and Pets vary for each season.
Missions: This feature is reserved for our EvoSkulls and seasonal Pets collections, allowing users to earn rewards in $SLS, a CRC-20 utility token that is necessary for leveling the stats of the NFTs.
3. CroSkulls was one of the earliest NFT projects on the Cronos Chain. How has your growth been over the past year?
Our growth last year has been incredible! Despite the uncertainties experienced by the overall market, we have continued to work on our roadmap, building a healthy community and focusing on innovation.
We were the first project to launch an ERC-721 collection and did so with our own modified version, the ERC-721evo collections, as well as the first project on Cronos to launch a SoulBound Token (SBT) to reward our most loyal members.
To provide a clearer picture, let’s examine some statistics: Currently, we have deployed 43 smart contracts, boasting over 4,000 active users, with an exchange volume exceeding 14 million CRO across all our collections, and our ecosystem has generated approximately 400K transactions, representing 0.5% of the total transactions on the Cronos Chain.
4. What are the interesting upcoming features or products that you guys will be launching?
We have a lot of exciting things and features in the pipeline for CroSkull. Our team is committed to continuing to innovate in the Web3 space, building high-quality smart contracts, and expanding the functionalities within our ecosystem.
Here are some of the upcoming steps on our roadmap:
- The Kimera project, will allow users to “mutate” their CroSkull Originals into an ERC-721 NFT with three different tiers, maximizing $SLS rewards with missions and our upcoming PVP game.
- Increasing the burning rate of our governance token, $GRVE.
- Moving towards a more decentralized ecosystem with a DAO mechanism.
- Creating a PVP game that utilizes our ERC-721 NFT collections with on-chain stats, which can be upgraded by interacting with our existing ecosystem.
- We also have a couple of surprises in development, but it’s still too early to reveal any details.
5. Why did you choose Cronos as the chain to launch on?
As enthusiasts of this industry for several years, we have always shared crypto.com’s mission to promote the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies.
Having been present at the launch of the Cronos chain in November 2021, we immediately recognized it as the ideal host for our ambitious project. Over the past year, we have been able to witness its growth first-hand, and we are confident that with the improvements gained from the Galileo upgrade and interoperability due to the IBC protocol, the future will be even brighter!
We are extremely proud to have been one of Cronos’s pioneering NFT projects, and even more thrilled to see our project grow into one of the largest and most recognizable in just a year and a half!
