Busy people: Let me TL;DR this for you.

• Xbox Game Pass is getting a range of price hikes.
• Xbox Game Pass for Console — I didn’t even know this console-specific tier existed! — is getting eighty-sixed for new users.
• A new basic tier, called Xbox Game Pass Standard, will join the already established tiers, but this tier will not include day one games.

It’s been a solid few months since I’ve written about what’s happening in the land of Xbox. The rigours of life (and my unannounced special project) have kept me very busy, thus making less room for writing, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been keeping up with Xbox gaming news.

Xbox Game Pass, the Netflix-style, all-you-can-eat gaming subscription service, is going through changes again, but it’s par for the course if you understand the type of business that Xbox is trying to seduce us with.

Subscriptions are hella convenient, but you risk being subjected to price increases, which is why I try to keep my subscriptions to a minimum.
