Galry | 5.17
With thousands of photos using the #galryart tag, the Galry community is growing steadily. And we just started another coffee shop collaboration!
This month, we gladly partnered with the Starbucks cafe in Montgomery Mall, Bethesda, MD. This mall is one of the nicest in the area — it has a clean, creative atmosphere that attracts a ton of young people, especially on the weekends.
The store manager, Ben Keeler, is already a member of the Cross Create Club, and he was thrilled to support artists through Galry. His store sees about 800–1000 customers per day, so we know the Galry community has potential to expand and diversify through this partnership.
We expect to reach many new artists and art appreciators who visit Starbucks. With summer just now starting and school letting out, it’ll be awesome to see students hustling through the store to get some refreshment between shopping visits. It’s our hope that they’ll discover the art on Galry after snatching a promo card. And since many of them are already on Instagram, we anticipate even more art submissions to the Galry online art gallery.
While we were at the store bright-and-early when it opened, it was also cool to see a middle-aged gentleman working on his laptop. By his appearance and work setup, it seemed as though he was a freelance designer working remotely from the coffee shop. We definitely caught his attention while we were in there, so hopefully he (and many more like himself) will spot the promo cards and engage with the growing art community on Galry. With more and more creatives working remotely these days, it’s likely that Galry will catch the attention of these coffee-shop-workers here at this Starbucks store.
