3. Gameplay Recap
Here are the basics you need to know prior launching a game of Cross The Ages:
- You have 30 cards in your deck and the total deck’s power cannot exceed 15000,
- You start the duel with 5 cards and you draw 1 every time it’s your turn,
- You will have the chance to change up to 4 cards from your starting hand,
- Each player has an individual timer of 5 minutes — and maximum 1'30 by turn,
- CTA is played on a 4x4 square grid,
You get points by:
Capturing an opponent’s card: 2 Point
Creating a “Trinity”: 1 Point per turn for each card in the trinity
During your turn you can do 3 things:
Discard a card to draw a new one, (doesn’t end your turn)
Play a battle card (ends your turn)
Play a field card (doesn’t end your turn)
You win the game if:
You are the first to reach 65
You are the first to reach the highest score between the 2 when the board is full
Your opponent’s timer reaches 0
4. The Heptagram
The Heptagram is fundamental in Cross The Ages. Strategic skills can be greatly improved by learning to navigate its many nuances. Let us sum up the key points.
The above animated GIF demonstrates the Heptagram’s dynamism. Advantages and weaknesses of each element are displayed when you click on it in-game. You can also figure out the “Trinity” and “Affinity” (Sibling relationship) concepts.
As seen here, you can immediately attack your opponent’s card while getting the benefits of an Affinity or Trinity you already control as shown below:
5. Start with the in-game tutorial
Before doing anything on the game and even if the gameplay looks clear to you, make sure to launch at least once the tutorial.
It’s a great way to understand the different game mechanics and try them.
6. Build your deck
You can start playing and completing quests in normal mode even if you haven’t purchased any chests or packs yet by assembling a deck from the training cards and the rotation cards (which changes every week).
Creating a winning deck is challenging and will require you to practice several configurations before you find the one that works best for you.
In the meanwhile, the button to automatically produce a deck is located in the upper right hand corner of the deck creation interface, as illustrated below:
7. Games Modes
At the moment, we have 3 different game mode:
- Ranked: In this mode, you compete against other players and you can win or lose Elo that will affect your ranking in the leaderboard,
- Normal: This mode doesn’t affect your ranking, you can do the quests and try your new decks,
- Custom: This mode is used to play between friends without affecting the leaderboard. Also used to play in tournament. In this mode you cannot accomplish quests.
More game modes will come later, including Tournament and Training.
