17. 1 and a DNF! Or why I’m starting this blog…

It’s Open season, and if you’ve happened to step into a Box you may have noticed your fellow Crossfitters grunting loudly while snatching a Dumbell or doing burpees over a box. I tried that today, and it was misreable.

Still, when I finally caught my breath and had sometime to reflect on what just happened (I was 8 burpees away from completing the workout when I hit the time cap), I was keenly aware at how much stronger I had become, but also how much more difficult I’m finding burpees after dropping my focus on cardio (I started doing Strongman instead).

I was unhappy with my performance, but I kind of get why we’re often told to join the Open regardless. It’s an awesome way of benchmarking your performance (it’s my first).

I happened across Crossfit six months ago, and I’m almost certain I would not have made it through today’s workout then. I have also realised that this latest addiction is a healthy one, but one which needs to be nurtured and managed to avoid injury and ensure progress.

It’s a journey I don’t want to embark on alone, so here I am, baring all for the world to see. This is a support group for the perenially unfit, the perpetual beginner, and the nonathlete. It’s Crossfit for the rest of us! Together, we can decipher the acronyms! We’ll guide each other on a journey to the first pull-up, T2B or C2B. Together we’ll learn to kip, learn to clean, and nail Fran! Together, we’ll learn to eat clean, or at least drop some of the filth that passes through our esophagus.

I’m almost certain we’ll have fun, so let me know what you think, and what you’d like to learn more about. I’ll do my best to help you and, more selfishly, help myself.

Crossfit Nonathlete

Crossfit is awesome! While a lucky few will be nimble and mobile enough to quickly take to Crossfit, others, I included, will languish in the corner with a PVC pipe and a dream. To help us, I started this blog as a support group for the nonathletes looking to improve!

Not a social media expert, just on this thing because I can be.
