3 Ways to Upgrade Your Practice for the Busy Witch
Tips for the busy witch
As a witch in the 21st century, I’m usually busy trying to balance my mundane life with my magical practice. It’s difficult to be a professional full-time witch within today’s age.
I work to support myself, and sometimes I can’t immediately perform spells when necessary without making effective preparations.
When I have free time such as my days off, I will prepare my supplies for a variety of spells. This makes it easier to perform a spell when the need arises, and I want to share these ideas with you.
Three Tips for the Busy Witch
Prepare herbal blends in advance:
I like to pre-mix herbal blends for different categories of spells. This entails finding the correspondences that fit the particular need.
For example, if I wanted to have a blend for prosperity, I would put together a herbal jar that I can use for different spells. This would include herbs such as basil, orange peels (it’s thrifty to save orange peels in a jar or bag for later), alfalfa, and allspice, to name a few.
Place each amount in a jar according to the recipe. If unsure, use equal measures of each. Follow by labeling the jars based on their purpose, in this case, money drawing and prosperity.
Later, when you need money or a little extra help to reach ends meet, you’ll have a blend ready to go.
Develop a sigil alphabet:
A sigil alphabet is a pretty powerful and under-used tool in the witch’s spell kit. It involves developing sigils that encompass universal meanings, archetypes, or specific purposes.
Sigil alphabets take time, intuition, ingenuity, and a little persistence to create. During your free time, develop a sigil you can use for future spells. Eventually you’ll have many sigils within your alphabet.
With time, you can combine sigils for more specific and powerful spells.
Many people are interested in romance spells today. One way to use this technique is to develop a sigil to draw desire to yourself. After you draw it, charge it with whatever methods you prefer, and record it in your personal grimoire or book of shadows.
Using one’s own will and magic, you have a spell ready to be used.
Chaos Magician Phil Hine, and other chaos magicians in the 1980s developed sigil alphabets. Look into this versatile technique to give your practice a little more oomph.
Using what’s available:
Popularity in witchcraft is rising, and some witches speak about necessities for spells to be effective. Such as expensive equipment, complicated rituals, and anything else that is difficult for the everyday person to get.
This reflects the notion that complex spells and expensive tools are more powerful. This ignores the source of magick: each individual, there will, and the spirits involved.
Simple spells can be just as powerful, and in some cases more powerful than complicated spells. In my experience, spells that I’ve produced on the spot have worked almost immediately and more effectively than I would have previously thought.
Learn to enter trance in almost any environment — this is a crucial skill because it places you in a magical mindset. Many books give advice on how to do this, such as Mat Auryn’s Psychic Witch, Ivo Dominguez Jr.’s The Keys to Perception, and Christopher Penczak’s The Inner Temple of Witchcraft, to name a few.
While in a trance, come up with a simple rhyme, or incantation, on what it is you wish to manifest and repeat it, with unwavering will and focus. Awaken the energies within, and use energy in your environment while chanting quietly or mentally. This will build the energy required to send the spell on its way.
With doing spells on the fly, use what you have available. For example, when I need a quick manifestation, I will use an extra piece of string or shoelace to perform knot magick.
The possibilities of what you can do are endless. You simply must have a witch’s mindset when the need arises.
