After completing college, we probably felt mixed feelings, “feelings” that truly cannot be stated and classified. We needed to cope with the fact that we were on our own, we wanted to work immediately like other friends who seem to have the perfect job at the perfect company.

There is an old proverb that “getting a job is really hard”. This proverb is probably true, moreover in this tough situation. Pandemic doesn’t only affect fresh graduates who are actively searching for a job, but also the experienced and skilled people.

But Egi Hardiana was very fortunate to get a job offer amid the pandemic. She was accepted as a commercial administrator intern at CROWDE in July 2020. In early November 2020, she was converted to a full time employee. This post is about her and how CROWDE gives great learning in her life.

Egi got the information about the job vacancy at CROWDE from her friend. After skimming about CROWDE on google, she concluded that CROWDE is a perfect match for her, especially because of her educational background which focuses on the agricultural field. She applied for the vacant position and eventually accepted after having some tests.

This Bogor Agricultural University graduate was assigned to check farmers’ data following CROWDE requirements, input it to the master data, prepare the cooperation agreement, and make a list of farmers who are going to receive funding.

Egi doesn’t need much time to fall in love with CROWDE. “I love working at CROWDE because I feel that I can directly support farmers. I am very touched by all the farmers, particularly while looking at their photos. I am truly interested in this job because I can ease farmers’ business despite only processing their data”.

Besides, Egi mentioned three advantages of doing an internship at CROWDE

  1. No Need to Feel Reluctant to Talk to Everyone.

In my first day of work, even though I didn’t directly meet all the employees, I got the impression that everybody at CROWDE was so welcome.”

The alphas, what CROWDE employees are called, according to Egi, are so humble, therefore it drives Egi to be more actively involved in CROWDE.

Moreover, at CROWDE we have a ritual called Jeffersonian. Some employees across the departments gather in a room (virtually) and we are asked random questions. It imposes on us to know each other. This ritual makes me more confident and not afraid about being judged” Egi said.

2. The Place With Extensive Opportunity for Learning

Egi has learned many things during her internship period, even more in the Working From Home situation. She learned many things on her own.

I learned many things, whether it is about my assignment at CROWDE or everything beyond that. I am driven to keep learning. I think this is the advantage of working at a startup company, particularly at CROWDE. We don’t have the rigid system so that we can explore many things, learn from colleagues, and do things on a trial and error basis,” she explained.

3. The Right Place for Doing Good

Whatever our role in CROWDE is, make-believe that we are doing good,” Egi said.

CROWDE, she said, certainly creates a friendly ecosystem that eases farmers to run their business. This is what makes her enjoy her job. The more she comprehends what CROWDE does, the more she wants to create an impact on the agricultural sector in Indonesia.

Irrespective of all of that, it doesn’t mean there is not something that Egi dislikes about her internship experience. She sometimes found herself overwhelmed by a lot of tasks. But all that is helpful for herself to be improve her time-management skills.
