3 secrets to Instagram Success in 2019
When was the last time you mindfully looked at your brand’s Instagram account?
Today?
Yesterday?
Last month?
Instagram has introduced a lot of new features in last one year and not just that, they have reached 1.0 billion monthly active users. This makes Instagram one of the Top 10 Social Networks in the world! And that’s great news for Social Media Managers worldwide. Now all you need to do is use it to your benefit.
Here are 3 things that you should to do right now 🌈 🦄
1. Spring Clean Your Instagram Account 🌷
With time, strategies change, focus shifts, target audience changes and your end goals change as well. After all, businesses and brands grow, rebrand and keep improving, sometimes even the product changes.
It does not make sense to keep your Instagram account as it is. Your account needs to reflect your brand for what it is right not and not for what it was in the past. You don’t want your profile visitors to scroll down and find content that’s irrelevant to them.
Here’s what you need to do👇
- Carve some time out to go through all your posts, story highlights, tagged images and thoroughly examine what reflects your brand identity and what doesn’t.
- Remove everything that isn’t relevant to your brand anymore. You don’t have to delete the posts, you can just archive them.
- Update your bio, profile picture and the link in bio.
- Add relevant hashtags to your bio, make it crisper and attractive.
- Follow some relevant accounts, accounts that interact with you on regular basis and some relevant hashtags.
- Unfollow or mute accounts that don’t add any value to your feed anymore and the same goes for the hashtags.
- Consider adding a theme to your account. It will make your account more attractive and follow-worthy. Here is some help 👇
This could be time-consuming and probably a bit painful because at some point you’d put in a lot of effort to strategize and create all that content. However, a cleaner and more relevant profile attracts more targetted followers and that’s what you want. The end goal here is to make your profile more relevant and worth following.
2. Add Instagram Stories To Your Strategy 🖼
Instagram stories were launched in August 2016 and there are over 400 million users who use these stories daily! That is a world full of possibilities!

3. Create content for IGTV 📺
IGTV was launched in June 2018 and it is slowly gaining popularity amongst the Instagram users. Experts have predicted that IGTV would be a big player in 2019.
Why IGTV?
- It supports and promotes verticle videos that are favourable for the mobile-only audience.
- Instagram already lets you post short videos but for the marketers, influencers and brands focusing on long-form videos, IGTV is a great option.
- If you already have a great following on Instagram, you don’t have to start from the scratch building your audience.
- Early adopters always have the benefit of being there first and a better chance of establishing brand authority.
The way Instagram is developing new features and working on small improvements it is safe to say that soon IGTV will have better search and discovery, more features and a lot more active users. It might even become the next YouTube!
