This morning I got up and the first thing I did was checked my Instagram like I always do 🤷‍♀

And guess what did I notice? Yes, something new ✨

Every time something new appears on the Instagram sticker section I get excited and dive in head first to check it out. So I created a Quiz 💃

Step by step instructions to add quizzes to your Instagram stories 👇

  1. Tap the camera icon at the top left to open stories.
  2. Add an image, a video, a boomerang, whatever you want to add as a background.
  3. Swipe up to open the stickers or tap the stickers option at the top right.
  4. Tap on quiz.
  5. Add a question, options and select the right answer.
  6. Share!

When the user taps the right answer, they’re rewarded with some colourful animation.

When the user taps the wrong answer, the right answer shows up in green, the option they’ve chosen becomes red and in my head, the 👎 buzzer plays.

3 ways to use quizzes in your Instagram stories ✨

1. Host a contest 🏆

We’ve seen a lot of Q and A contests on Twitter and Facebook. But with quizzes, you can host one on your stories. This will make it very easy for you to find the folks who answered all the questions correctly, after which you can use a random selector to announce a winner. This could be a short and yet efficient way to increase your engagement 🙌

2. Product announcements 📢

Yes! Have a new announcement? Start it with a multiple choice question 😎

Of course, you can do this with a poll to keep your audience interested but quiz has definitely opened more avenues and the results here are definitive. No guess works.

Here’s an example 👇

You can tap on the colour selector to choose the colour of your quiz’s skeleton.

Mix the quiz with few other stickers and you've got a recipe for 📈 engagement!

3. Test your knowledge quiz 💪

  • Ask some trivia questions based on a particular industry and ask them to test their knowledge.
  • Ask questions specific to your domain and make sure these questions are well researched and add value. The idea is to help them learn something by the end of it.
  • Ask questions based on current affairs, this will help them understand where they stand and if they get it all right, they can also boast about it ;)

Tip — After the quiz, add one more story with a GIF that shows appreciation. A heart, a hug, a thank you or a high-five.

Final thoughts

There are a lot of creative ways to use quizzes and these are just of few of them. I’m excited to see how other marketers and creators use them in their stories. If you’ve got some ideas, share them in the comment section 🙌

Sam doesn’t admit it, but she loves Instagram a lot. Question — Do you think she really checks IG first thing in the morning? A. Yes B. No. <The answer is A>
