The aim of the Ekiti Pre-Election Poll is to provide empirical data on the preparedness of voters towards the forthcoming election in the state. The poll also provides an in-depth analysis on views and expectations that voters have of the different political parties and their candidates.

Sample Size

Ahead of the upcoming Governorship Election in Ekiti state, CrowdForce conducted an opinion poll among 4,970 residents in the state, using our field agent network across the sixteen (16) local governments of Ekiti state namely Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, Oye, Gbonyin, Ise/Orun, Irepodun/ Ifepodun, Moba, Ikole, Ekiti East, Ekiti West, Ekiti South West, Ido-osi, Ilejemeje, Ijero, Efon and Emure.

The opinions of the respondents with not less than 300 respondents from each of the sixteen local governments was used to analyse the Ekiti Pre-Election Poll.

The poll was conducted between 4th to 21st of June, 2018, using face to face interview of a randomly selected population, aged 18 years and above. Given the sample size, we estimated a confidence level of 95% with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent. The field agents were trained on the critical indicators to consider when collecting data and how to use the Mobile Forms app (A proprietary mobile technology use for collecting data).

Demographics

The demographics of the poll is grouped into gender, age, area covered, occupation and educational qualification. The gender of the respondents were 51% male and 49% female. The age distribution was: 38% (18–30), 48% (31–50), 11% (51–70) and 3% (71 and above).

Also, 36% of areas covered are rural, 38% are peri-urban and 25% are urban areas. Of the occupation of the sample population, 69% were skilled workers, 21% were unskilled workers and 10% were classified as others.

The educational qualification of the respondents were given as follows;

34% had secondary education, 57% had tertiary education and 9% had other educational qualifications.
