An abridged account of a current CrowdJustice crowdfunding case:

The Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) has filed a complaint on behalf of a transgender woman and her husband alleging cruel and persistent discrimination at an Amazon shipping facility. The lawsuit alleges Allegra and Dane endured sexual harassment, bigotry, and abuse after her co-workers learned that Allegra is a transgender woman.

The couple claims that when they complained they were told not to make complaints in writing and that the harassment went so far as having their brake line intentionally severed, putting the couple at significant risk.

Jillian Weiss, Executive Director of TLDF, says:

“This lawsuit sends a strong message. No one should ever be subjected to job discrimination on the basis of their sex or disability.”
