Crownpay users will have to migrate to Coinomi Android

Crownpay Android users will have one month to move their funds to a different Crown wallet. Crownpay for Android has already been removed from the Play Store. This article walks Crownpay users through the process of migrating to Coinomi and explains the reasons for deciding to discontinue the native mobile app.

To explain why the Crown Team will be removing Crownpay Android from the Play Store to protect users and their funds, I have asked Crown SysAdmin hypermist. He states the following:

We have made the decision to no longer support the crownpay app for android as its becoming a security risk. In addition to this, Crownpay is originally a fork of Coinomi. Since Coinomi has moved to closed source, it is a challenge for us to update the app with features of Coinomi and be certain that there are no security exploits in the code.

If you are a Crownpay Android user, you have several options to move your funds.

  1. Importing your Crownpay Android seed to Coinomi Android
  • Download Coinomi for Android from the Google Play Store and install it on your mobile device.
  • In your Crownpay Android dashboard, click the 3 dots in the top right and open settings.
  • Click Show Recovery Phrase.
  • Copy the phrase. Open Coinomi for Android and proceed to click restore wallet.
  • Paste your phrase or write it in manually.
  • Follow the steps until you get to the coin selection page and select Crown.
  • Your funds should show up in Coinomi now.

Once the funds show up, you can remove Crownpay from your device and have a safe and added protection from Coinomi’s new security features like finger print authentication.

2. Importing your Crownpay Android seed to Crown Electrum

  • Download Crown-Electrum and install it on your desktop device.
  • In your Crownpay Android dashboard, click the 3 dots in the top right and open settings.
  • Click Show Recovery Phrase and copy it.
  • Open Crown-Electrum and create a new standard wallet.
  • Select “I already have a seed” and click Next.
select “I already have a seed”
  • Enter your passphrase, click options and check “BIP39 seed”
  • Click next and change the BIP44 field to 44/72/0
  • Crown-Electrum will prompt you to set a password to encrypt your wallet.
  • You can now access your addresses and their private keys.
  • You can also import the now accesible private keys to your Crown QT.
