Introduction

Crown developers from the Cuban community have launched a user friendly app, which enables users to easily mint NFT tokens giving them powerful capabilities taking in consideration the recent Wrapped Crown token (wCRW) bridge on the Polygon network.

The NFT application has three available minting options which work closely together with the Crown NFT Framework that went online in March 2020.

Crown Soulbound contract:

  • Enables users to mint a NFT on the Polygon network, with all its established wallet infrastructure capabilities.
  • Within this option, the user has a choice (but not an obligation), at any point in the life of the token, to “soul-bind” this Polygon NFT to a Crown NFT meaning that the Polygon token is burned and the Crown one is minted.
  • We call it a soul-bound token since you cannot trade Crown NFTs, and it is soul-bound to your CRW address.
  • Soul-bound tokens are actually taking off on ETH, as they are used as digital identities or as digital passes for all sorts of in-real-life events or concerts.

There are scenarios where you need to have a non-tradeable version of the token, or even certain “spinnable” tokens that cannot be used again after a certain point in time, but you want to keep all the data and unique characteristics of the token. In the example of a concert ticket, the ticket can be traded, but once you enter the concert the ticket cannot be used or traded again.

Crown Proof of Registration contract:

  • Within this option the user basically creates the same token on Polygon and Crown simultaneously.
  • The main idea is to have a mirror token on Crown serving as a proof of registration, keeping a record of the original creator of the token, while users can do whatever they decide to do with the Polygon token such as trading it on Opensea, etc.

In the ERC721 standard, the owner of a token is well defined at all times. However, managing the original creator of a token is different, and the collection approach does not always guarantee that the creator of a collection is the creator of a token, for example in the case of public minting contracts, or collaboration between several artists.

In this way, a user can create a token while Crown ensures that they will receive a unique Proof of Registration that shares metadata with the token launched on Polygon.

Crown Public NFT Contract:

  • This option simply facilitates the creation of NFTs on the Crown blockchain without the need of using the Crown wallet.
  • All NFTs are created on a tailor-made NFT contract which has been called Crown Public NFT.

How to use the app

  1. Install a metamask wallet: https://metamask.io/

2. Go to: https://nft.crownplatform.com/

3. Make sure you switch network to Polygon Mainnet.

4. Choose which of the three contracts you want to mint.

5. If you mint a token, you are able to pay the fee both in MATIC and/or Polygon wCRW.

6. Check if the token was minted on Opensea.

7. If you want to soul-bind the same token to Crown, you will have to enter a CRW address (the Polygon NFT will disappear from your profile and Crown NFT will appear, this action takes a few minutes).

8. Check if the Crown NFT was created in the explorer.

9. You can sort your NFTs according to date, ID number, and alphabetically. Use the drop down menu on the left.

10. For advanced NFT users, it is possible to add attributes, eg. background, rarity, role, etc. The user can create any attributes.

How do I obtain wCRW to mint NFTs in the app?

wCRW is a wrapped token on the Polygon network, introduced by wrapping.services. This allows for a representation of the CRW token on Polygon. Within the app, you can view your balance of wCRW and MATIC on the Polygon networks. You can send and receive wCRW using wallets compatible with the ERC-20 standard on Polygon, such as Metamask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, etc. There are straightforward ways to obtain wCRW:

  1. Using the bridge provided by wrapping.services to swap CRW for wCRW. Visit the following link: https://wrapping.services/get/crwpoly/
  2. Purchasing wCRW on Uniswap. You can use MATIC or another ERC20 token like USDT or USDC that you hold on the Polygon network to purchase wCRW on Uniswap. You can do this directly via the following link. Make sure to connect your wallet to the Polygon network: https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap?inputCurrency=ETH&outputCurrency=0xAf08035633F360e6dAc4B1DD309fEF0d9BE7eC40

Remember, you need some wCRW or MATIC to mint NFTs in the app.

Just note that you should always verify contract addresses and URLs to avoid scams and loss of funds.

Potential NFT related use cases for Crown

There are few main reasons the app is being launched:

1. Simplify the use of NFTs on Crown enabling users to launch them in seconds in a dummy-proof app.

2. Enabling Crown creators to work on an industry standard wallet infrastructure.

3. Try to build a bridge which might bring new creators from other ecosystems to Crown.

The next step is to test the app on a real use case. Crown contributors are working on using the app to launch a professional NFT collection of our legendary “Pothead” Knight Character. This test wants to lead by example and show it is potentially possible with the application, and will hopefully encourage other community members to use the app for their unique projects.

As a next development milestone, the app will also facilitate the automatic launch of NFT contracts such as Pothead, allowing users and creators to launch their collections, with the requirements and logic of their choice, and create their NFT contracts without the need to write solidity code. The timing of this is to be determined by the use and the success of the app.

The app was developed as a volunteer project. If you like, please support the creators with CRWs to this address:
