Like most of us, I dread that day I’ll no longer be able to drive. Losing our independence is high on the list of the most-hated things about aging.

On the other hand, Vincent Dransfield has managed to dodge the “can’t drive anymore” bullet for an incredibly long time. At 110 years old, he drives every day and even grabs coffee and lunch at a local convenience store while he’s out.

Vincent lives independently by himself in his house in Little Falls, New Jersey — the same house he’s lived in since 1945. He doesn’t require any in-home care and has no significant health issues, except knee pain and other minor health problems. His granddaughter quipped that she has more health problems at 49 than he does at 110.

Centenarians are people who live to be at least 100. It’s an exclusive club. Only 1 in 5,000 people in the US even make it to 100, and only 15% of them are men. Vincent has transcended centenarian status and made it to the super-centenarian group, which is comprised of people who make it to 110. Only 10% of those lucky enough to get into this super-exclusive club are men.

Vincent has always been healthy. He never suffered from cancer, cardiovascular disease, or even headaches.
