Two Realities

I awake each morning quivering on the cusp of two realities. Eros beckons me into the light of all that is and that is to come. Thanatos lurks, spreading its shade, taunting me to release, let go, accept what is ending. I plan for my glory. I plan for my demise. I feel the fullness of my great good luck to be alive. I feel the slow dropping away of all the faculties and abilities that define that luck. The end looms even as I invest in the continuation of the ever forward moving present. I am at a threshold. My innate longing for life moves me forward, and forward moves me into the arms of death.
