Busting the Myth of the 90/90 Decluttering Rule

Looking back and forward three months does not help my bulging closets

I just read a freakishly annoying “tip” to help us all with the ongoing challenge of decluttering.

The 90/90 method.

Recommended specifically for clearing out our bulging closets.

This chirpy writer suggested casually reviewing your wardrobe while asking yourself, “Did I wear this in the last 90 days?”

Followed by a rapid —

“Will I wear it in the next 90 days?”

This may work perfectly for those among us with dull repetitive lives, who can predict their sartorial needs with precision and streamline their wardrobes accordingly.

This is not me.

Like many of us who adapted to Zoomland during the pandemic, I now spend many days dressed elegantly from the waist up, with something comfy below desk level. But what if I do need to attend an event away from my home office? Throwing away all my trousers and skirts not worn in that 90-day window might be a touch inconvenient for those rare in-person meetings.
