Do You Live Like You Could Die Tomorrow Or As If You Will Live Forever?

It’s a straightforward, but confusing question. See if you follow my perspective.

It’s weird how your perspective shifts as you get older.

Weird in the most confusing, yet confident and reassuring away.

Let’s consider this evolving, across the lifespan dynamic using real-life events/people from my life to illustrate.

My wife and I leave on a one-way ticket to move to Spain in just four months! So, of course, I’m studying Spanish pretty hard ahead of immersion.

I have had several pretty good conversations with my instructor. I hope this means my Spanish is improving. Not that he’s merely humoring me.

Either way, in addition to helping me make progress with Spanish, our talks have been enlightening. Even when we’re watching videos created for an 8-year old.

During a recent lesson about how to make a decision (tomar una decisión), I said something that prompted a discussion.

I’d love your take on it.

I told my instructor that —

It is better to live your life as if you are never going to die. With limits.
