Grandpa, I Went Pee in the Potty
Another milestone has been reached
We all look forward to the firsts of our children: the first tooth, the first step, and the first word. This moves on to the first day of school, the first driving lesson, or the first girlfriend.
The celebration of firsts doesn’t only apply to children. It also applies to grandchildren. Recently, my 5-year-old grandson lost his first tooth and got his first visit from the tooth fairy.
Well, it’s potty training time for our granddaughter. She’s 2-and-a-half years old and my daughter believes it’s time to expose her to diaperlessness. Fun times.
It’s easier with boys in the sense that you can show them what’s happening. I remember standing there and shocking my son with my stream. When he got his bearings, he reached out to find out how pee felt. You can also make it fun as you target some Cheerios or make a pattern in the water.
Girls have to figure out why you placed them on this seat. You can kind of show them but it’s not as obvious as the boys. However, they do figure it out. And when they do, it’s party time.
With our granddaughter, it’s fruit snacks. Those are her favourites. She gets them whenever she comes over, but if she goes potty, she gets more.
