Growing Older in a World Obsessed With Our Appearance
How to survive and thrive
Yesterday I saw a reel on Facebook. A woman said she was more beautiful because she’d lost weight. Beneath the post, I saw daggers of comments with people still criticizing her appearance and her face.
Honestly, she was a beautiful woman. I didn’t get the vitriol. No one deserves that level of abuse.
Vitriol towards Taylor Swift
And don’t get me started on the trolls who constantly post rude things online about Taylor Swift. This is a woman who started playing music as a child, who donates to numerous causes, writes catchy songs, and loves her life. And people can’t deal with it. They are angry because she attended her boyfriend’s games and the camera was on her. How dare she?
Did Taylor put the camera on herself? No. She was merely supporting her boyfriend by attending like any loving girlfriend would. Some hate on her because she supported a candidate they didn’t like. So did half the country. Should they hate on all those other people too?
So many criticize her singing voice. And other popular and talented singers like Beyonce too. Many trolls are people who can’t sing themselves, but when hidden behind the computer screen, they are divas in their minds.
