If you are someone who regularly reads what I write here on Medium, you may be confused by the change in my profile photo and my name. Yes, I am still the same Beth Bruno you have been reading and following. But something prompted me to google my name recently and what I found was a little upsetting.

Beth Bruno is also an author who writes books about sex trafficking, is a Christian, and has a therapy practice. I am not she. But I noticed that on some websites, she and I were being conflated as the same person and our articles were listed together. This must be as dismaying to her as it was to me.

So, I have decided to add my maiden name to my moniker to make the distinction. I am now Beth Nash Bruno, and I hope going forward this will place a line between us that will help people distinguish one from the other.

The other thing I did was take my photo down and replace it with a sunset. This begins the process of finding and removing all images of myself that are out there on Google. Seeing so many of my photos on Google feels creepy, somehow, and I want to eliminate as many as possible. I know this may seem silly, because there is probably no way I will ever scrub them all off, but for some reason, this year feels like the time to pull…
