Youth is wasted on the young.

They don’t appreciate the joy of effortless movement, deep, uninterrupted sleep, or whizzing down a hill on a sled for hours on end.

Can you get your body to behave like that again?

Spoiler alert: bodies have an expiration date. You can maintain, but unless you were in bad shape to begin with, good luck with the gain.

Do the basics as much as you can: rest, exercise, maintain deep connections, fix what’s fixable, and find joy in the journey.

Time takes its toll and treats some people more kindly than others. Be grateful for what you have.

That includes mental faculties. In this area, I’m actually getting better. These days, I recognize self-sabotaging behavior, and I’m kinder to myself.

Adjust to your new reality

I have stubborn lymphedema in my right leg that hasn’t budged after two surgeries. And my left foot has bursitis in the fourth toe.

You’d think it would be easy to fix foot pain concentrated on the fourth toe. Not so. The two podiatrists I’ve been to keep saying how everyone’s feet are…
