Have you ever heard of a game called “The Game of Things?”

You get a prompt such as “things you shouldn't do in church.” Then, everyone in the group writes an answer. You want to write an answer that won’t give you away as the author. So, since I don't have a dog, I may write something like “Bring my dog.”

However, my husband Charlie and I don't care if we get guessed while playing this game. Our sole purpose is to make each other laugh.

There are certain movies that we have seen together so many times we can quote most of the lines. Usually, we will write some sort of movie line answer to get the other person to laugh.

For instance, one of the prompts is "things a dog thinks about while it's getting petted.” Charlie's answer was "Margaret Thatcher on a cold day.”

If you’ve seen the “Austin Powers” movies 27 times, like we have, you understand what he was saying. I couldn't stop laughing.

Every day, at least one of our text messages to each other will include a movie line. We try to see who can make each other laugh the most times during any given day.

Sharing humor is a huge part of why our marriage has been so successful.
