If You’re Three

First, sit down on the floor, open the box up, and dump everything out. The board. The little players. The cards with the colors on them that tell you where to move.

Put the board aside, push the color cards and the players into a pile and jump into the pile, shouting “Yippee!”

Do this several times.

Then sit down beside the pile of players and color cards, grab as many as you can and hurl them into the air, yelling “Happy Birthday!”

Gather the color cards together, look through them and be proud of yourself when you can identify the colors. Share your knowledge about colors with Grandma and be happy when she praises you.

Next, place the board on the floor, put one or two of the players down on the board and move them around like you’ve seen your older siblings do, because clearly this means something, although you don’t know what.

Sometimes you can have the players talk to each other about the game — or about zombies or monsters — in little squeaky voices.

When you’re done with the game, putting everything back in the box is out of the question.
