It’s something I consider multiple times a day

When I am out and about, walking my usual five to seven miles a day, I can see at almost every intersection, while I am waiting for the light to change green for my direction, many other pedestrians observe that there is no vehicle traffic to impede their crossing the street, so they go ahead to the corner on the other side.

After all, they probably reason, if it’s safe to cross the street, why wait for the light to turn green? They may as well go!

More than ten years ago, I made the decision that I would stop at every intersection where I did not have a green light, and that I would use my time waiting there to take a deep breath, observe the area around me, and express my gratitude for not having to be in a hurry.

Not being in a hurry is a luxury these days.

That’s part of what it means to me to be a time millionaire.

No car. No bus. Walk!

I have a driver license. I do not own a vehicle. Not needing to own a vehicle was my #2 reason for moving to San Francisco 55 years ago.
