If I Had Lived 100 Years Ago

Every generation thinks they had it the hardest. But did they?

I give the same writing assignment to my students every year, and for the most part, I get the same types of responses every year. It doesn’t matter if I gave the assignment in 1987, 1999, 2011, or 2022. Most of the essays sound remarkably the same. Here is the question they must address:



“The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes.” (Frank Lloyd Wright) Non-fiction pieces, personal essays and occasional poems that explore how we feel about how we age and offer tips for getting the most out of life.
