I’m a 54-Year-Old Mom With “Thigh Gap”

It’s not something I set out to attain. I lost weight for my health.

I was shocked to see it when I looked in the mirror. That gap between my thighs. Where did it come from? I have a thigh gap?! At the ripe old age of 54? A menopausal mom of two kids?

As women, we’re supposed to gain weight when we go through menopause. I did. But then I lost it and more.

Let me explain.

But first… In case you’re wondering what a thigh gap is, it’s a term used to describe the space between a woman’s inner thighs when she’s standing with her knees straight and her feet together. If you stand this way and don’t see a gap between your thighs, don’t fret. It’s not normal.

Most females don’t have a gap between their thighs when they stand with their feet together. And yet, unfortunately, having a thigh gap is still a sought-after but difficult-to-achieve (and even dangerous to achieve) beauty standard.

Guess who’s to blame for yet another thing women get to feel bad about for not having. Thanks, Victoria’s Secret.
