After more than five years of being held hostage by my own debilitating and self-sabotaging need to care for or please others, I slipped out of the shackles.

One morning, I awakened with a swelled heart, wrapped in a cocoon of warmth and heightened awareness. The overwhelming lightness of self could not be denied.

Every fiber of my being was engaged and ready to welcome something big.

This was not a rebirth.

It was better.

And, I’m all in.

Freeballing.

I leaned on the end of the long glossy white work table, top overflowing with papers strewn about, humming laptops and product samples. My aching back cried uncle during the final four hours of my life-changing venture.

I stood and stretched.

“One last question, ladies. Are you huggers?”

Sure, they were relative strangers I sat with for a handful of hours over two days but I shoved aside the old tentative me. The invigorated me is unafraid to ask weird questions out of the blue.

Freeballing.
