Knowing when aches and pains warrant a trip to the doctor’s office

I woke up one morning a while back with a nagging headache.

Actually, the entire left side of my face felt funny. I thought maybe it was my sinuses acting up, but then there were periodic pains shooting through my skull. Nothing debilitating but coming out of nowhere and leaving just as quickly, this was by no means normal.

It could be anything. It could be nothing.

I did 22 minutes on the treadmill that morning and two sets of arm lifts with weights. No problem. That meant I was okay. Right?

Still, the left side of my face throbbed a little. And the shooting skull pains? They eventually ended. But what was that all about? Should I have called my doctor?

This is one of the most annoying parts of aging in my book. Outside of thinning hair and uncooperative knees is not knowing if the aches and pains we experience are just the aches and pains of getting older? Or something else? Something more? Maybe something that needs to be checked out?

It’s one of the big questions we face now.

Along with arthritis, I’ve got a come-and-go pain in my left arm. The upper region, where I take all of my shots. Covid…
