Living on Easy Street with No Mortgage

I am semi-retired. My husband is still working, and our home is paid off. I once believed a mortgage-free existence would quickly lead to rolling in huge piles of money.

But we live in America, so every time I walk out the front door I shed money like Lil Nas X drips charm.
