Looking ahead to the future, or focusing on the past. These are topics Crow’s Feet writers are exploring in essays triggered by our writing prompts.

Below you will read about people who are examining the role of memories in their lives. And now our prompts editor, Robin James, has penned a new prompt, asking folks whether they are looking forward to events in the future instead of being mired in the past.

Before we get to this week’s stories, I want to call your attention to our latest podcast episode, where Dr. Lee Penn, PhD, talks with host Jean Feldeisen about his work with folks in nursing homes and how their attitudes impact their health. In an essay, Dr. Penn counters the perception that nursing homes are horrible places to live: “elder and disabled folks are not pitiful beings, and nursing care is not someone else’s problem — it’s all of our responsibility as a society.” Listen to the Crow’s Feet Podcast here.
