My Collectible Childhood

The toys I owned as a kid are for sale on Ebay as “vintage.”

At 69, it amazes me how many things from my childhood are now considered collectibles.

The landscape of my 1960s youth, which I remember as being shiny and new and up-to-the-moment is now vintage, if not downright antique.

My childhood games, toys and comics are eagerly sought after by folks who want to own something from “the past.”

For instance? Beach Barbie.

I remember playing with her. Often. I remember making up stories about her adventures at the beach with her pals, and popping her head off just because I could, and rescuing her from the dog who viewed her as a scrumptious chew toy.

I also remember giving Beach Barbie to friends as birthday presents. In 1962, she cost $3.

Now she’s for sale on Ebay for $6,000!

And how about this Superman comic book?
