Not the train I was on. This train is SO not going to the airport. (Photo by Birmingham Museums Trust on Unsplash)

So I’m on the Septa train from 30th Street Station to the airport and the conductor is coming up the aisle checking for tickets and passes.

I dutifully show him my senior pass, which entitles me to ride for free.

When he asks the guy behind me for his ticket or pass, the guy says, “I don’t have one.”

“That’ll be nine dollars.”

“Nine dollars! Just to ride to the airport! That’s outrageous!”

Actually, nine dollars is a reasonable price. This dude definitely has an attitude. I turn around to check him out.

Sure enough, he’s an affluent-looking old white guy. Well-groomed. Expensive coat. Nice suitcase.

I’m pretty sure that he can afford to pay nine dollars. And yet?

He continues to fuss at the conductor about the fact that he doesn’t want to shell out an entire nine dollars for a ride to the airport.

Clearly, he suffers from Entitled Old White Guy Syndrome.
