I have to tell you, most of the time when I was offered a second chance by The Universe — it was more like a test than an opportunity. And that goes not just for relationships but for All. The. Times. something I said, “No, thank you” to came round again.

The lesson I have learned is simple: second chances aren’t necessarily the road to nirvana. Sometimes they are a bullet dodged.

Life propels us forward. We leave all sorts of relationships — with Humans, with jobs, with school — every relationship eventually ends once its purpose has played out. Sometimes we feel that the lesson hasn’t taken, or perhaps we have regrets. Make no mistake, though, some things were meant to leave us and teach us the fine art of letting go.

Learning to let go of what was is an important step that helps us ground in our now. It is one of the most vital of life skills if we seek contentment on this plane of existence. When a second chance comes around, I always ask myself, “Why did I pass the first time around? Has anything happened to change my opinion of this circumstance?”
