Reconnected and It Feels So Good
How I learned to connect virtually
Pandemic, pandemonium, life turned sideways!
Stay at home order; social distancing -
How to connect?
Virtually, I’m told. Me? I’m too old!
Zoom, they say, but with whom
And where — when I can go nowhere.
A tablet will help,
No, not another pill!
A tablet to use for Zoom, and boom!
You’ll be united with family and friends
There’s no end to how to meet
Yet I’m lost — it’s too hard a feat
For non-techies like me! HELP!
National Digital Equity Center to the rescue!
A troop of tutors and teachers
Armed with abundant knowledge and boundless patience
Teach me that a mouse doesn’t need legs;
Windows don’t just let in light;
Operating systems are not for surgery;
Clicking is not made with one’s tongue;
Google has nothing to do with eyes;
The Cloud is not in the skies;
Bytes are not for eating; a Mac is not a burger!
Apps, log in, log out, ram and rom,
Docks and scans, wifi and wireless.
Am I in Jetson land with Jetson speak?
No, this is my new reality,
My virtual connection
Thank you NDEC
For opening the Zoom room door
For showing me how to explore
The far reaches of cyberspace!
